I respect everyone’s opinion, but I just really don’t get how people say that Ariel “gave up her family for a man” as opposed to Tiana when Ariel wanted to be a human long before she even saw (and saved, to be clear) Eric and did not do anything about her love for the human world or for Eric himself up untill the point where her dad pushed her into it making it clear he will never accept nor respect her interests and is going to punish her for them. Tiana on the other hand never dreamt of being a frog, she grew up with loving parents who never disrespected her interests and goals (unlike Triton) and yet she was willing to give it all up at once to be with Naveen (whom she knew for about few days and only started having feelings for him few minutes before the movie final after her grand realization that she is actually in love with him) which would mean remaining a frog forever - as she thought - and leaving behind her goals, her dreams and her family. Imo this is the clear example of leaving everything behind for a guy whereas for Ariel Eric was just one of many reasons why she wanted to be a human.

This isn’t Frogatouille where Tiana could’ve went back to her dream of owning a restaurant and back to her family while being a frog. She simply had to leave those things behind if she was stuck as a frog, it’s a situational thing not purely by choice of being with Naveen. I think your argument is unfair in comparison.

Tiana could have accepted Naveen’s choice to be with Charlotte for the sake of the curse being broken, in which case they both would have been turned back into humans, at least as they believed. However she prefered to stop him, profess her love to him and it just happened that Charlotte was a caring and loving friend to the point where she agreed to give Naveen a kiss in order to make a way for their happiness without asking anything in return but it was too late and the plan didn’t work. The point of my post was not to be unfair to Tiana at all, it was to highlight the fact that unlike Ariel who dreamt of being a human BEFORE she fell in love with Eric, Tiana chose to remain a frog to be with Naveen and not because she dreamt of being a frog for her entire life. And also to point at how both girls would make sacrifices for love and there is no need to bash either of them for that.

Alright, you’re missing some dialogue from that scene. Tiana says “My dream wouldn’t be complete without you in it” She doesn’t choose to stay a frog, she stops Naveen from making an obligation to Charlotte. When they turn out too late, they embrace life a frogs, they never made a choice to it. Tiana doesn’t stop him to say “No, let’s stay frogs instead”. Therefore, Tiana does not throw away her dream for a man, she simply wants to share the dream with him. Tiana dreamt of owning a restaurant BEFORE falling in love in Naveen, now she has both. Ariel dreamt of being human BEFORE falling in love in Eric, now she has both. Tiana = Ariel in that sense, no?
